For projects that fall outside conventional boundaries, Birtley offers fully bespoke wind post design using standard section profiles: SHS, RHS, RSA, PFC, UB, and UC.
Whether recessed into the cavity or mounted internally, we fabricate to suit exact span, load, and fixing criteria. Each post is tied into masonry using our engineered L-bracket frame cramp system, with fixings matched to substrate type.
Posts are delivered with pre-welded base plates, top cleats, all associated fixings, and cavity-specific ties. Full traceability and engineering assurance provided.
A bespoke design utilising the properties of common steel sections. These wind posts can fit within a cavity or inner leaf depending on your requirements.
L-bracket frame cramps tie the wind post to the masonry using self-tapping screws.
Utilising wall ties the post is embedded into the inner and outer walls, reinforcing it from lateral loads.
Every Wind Post comes with a welded base plate, loose top cleat, relevant fixings and wall ties. The base plate and top cleat are designed to suit your application no matter the substrate. The wall ties are selected to suit your wall cavity size.
Stainless steel grade 304 and galvanised mild steel grades S275 and S355 are available. Always isolate dissimilar materials. Calculated as a simply supported beam.
